Sonne's No. 7 Detoxificant

Sonne’s No. 7 Detoxificant is a natural and powerful detoxificant derived from USP Certified Food Grade Bentonite Clay Powder, a mineral-rich volcanic clay.* We use a special process to refine the raw bentonite clay to remove mica, dirt and other impurities, in order to concentrate the active detoxifying ingredient, montmorillonite (“mont-mor-ill-o-nite”)*. This procedure places montmorillonite into a colloidal suspension and retains its innate negative charge. These properties allow the powerful adsorption (physical binding) of positively charged substances.* (Most metabolic, environmental, and chemical wastes are positively charged.) Montmorillonite possesses the ability to adsorb about 40 times its own weight in positively charged substances present in the alimentary canal.* Because montomorillonite has such strong adsorptive properties and is not digested, it tightly binds toxic material to be excreted.*

History of Use

Bentonite is not a new product. Primitive tribes of various continents have been using volcanic ash for centuries to promote their health.* Primitives used to carry with them a ball of bentonite clay, which they would mix with water. They would dip their food into it before eating to prevent upset stomach.* Liquid bentonite was used for centuries in China for summer occasional diarrhea.* In 1712, Father Deutrecolle, a Jesuit Missionary, described the clay works in China and mentioned that the clay (bentonite) was used for occasional diarrhea*. What is Bentonite Clay?

Bentonite is a natural clay mineral formed in the extreme heat and pressure of a volcano. In ages past, it was blown into the sky by volcanic action, and sifted down to earth to help impregnate the soil with its 25 – 35 trace minerals. Sometimes it accumulates in layers or veins from which it is presently mined. Although bentonite contains a rich amount of minerals, there is no evidence that we can absorb any of its mineral content. Anyone who tries to sell the product on the basis of the minerals in it is only guessing.

Many products on the market use bentonite in a raw and unprocessed form. However, our bentonite is different. In making our Detoxificant we start with the highest quality bentonite clay powder (USP Certified Food Grade), and mix it with purified demineralized water. During our exclusive and secret process, the mica and impurities are removed, and the purified montmorillonite is put into a liquid colloidal-gel state. The product is sterilized and subjected to independent laboratory analysis for heavy metals and microbiology, ensuring a substance suitable for internal use and detoxification. It works better simply because it is better.

Bentonite should never be packaged in plastic. Because of its extreme drawing properties, bentonite can leach petrochemicals from plastic bottles. That is why Sonne´s only packages No. 7 Detoxificant in inert glass bottles.

The Experts Opinion

Dr. Robert T. Martin is a mineralogist and one of America´s outstanding authorities on bentonite clay. According to his research, its action is due to five characteristics:

It has a large and varied mineral content.
It has a negative electrical attraction for positively charged particles. In the human body, various toxic poisons are positively charged.
Seen under a high power microscope, bentonite is composed of extremely minute rectangular particles in the shape of a credit card. The wide surfaces are negatively charged and the edges are positively charged. Therefore, its adsorptive power is many thousand times more negative than positive.
The very minuteness of its particles gives it a large surface area in proportion to the volume used, enabling it to pick up many times its own weight in positively charged particles.
To obtain maximum effectiveness in the human body, it should be put in a liquid colloidal-gel state. This is why we do not keep it as a powder or put it into a tablet form to save shipping costs.

Dr. Martin stated that one gram (1/28 ounce) of our product has a surface area of 800 sq. meters. This is 40 times that of its commercial competitors. The larger the surface area, the greater its power to pick up positively charged particles (toxins). An edition of the Dispensatory of the United States of America states:

“In aqueous suspension, the individual particles of bentonite are negatively charged, this resulting in a strong attraction for positively charged particles and being responsible for the ability of bentonite to clarify such liquid as contain positively charged particles of suspended matter.”

Since bentonite has such strong adsorptive powers, its consumption could theoretically render unavailable some nutrients, as certain vitamins, by adsorbing them from the alimentary canal. However, independent experiments designed to find out how much such adsorption might adversely affect the growth and health of experimental animals indicated no ill effects when the intake of bentonite was 25% of the total diet. (Reference: Annals of the N.Y. Academy of Science, Vol. 57, page 678). Our product is mostly water, with only a small proportion of bentonite. In order for the bentonite in our product to reach a toxic level (i.e., 50% of the total diet) it would be necessary to consume a 3-year supply each day for an extended period of time.

Montmorillonite is classified as a hydrated aluminum silicate. But, it is very different from the aluminum used in cooking utensils, deodorants, and other preparations. The aluminum molecule is integral to the structure of montmorillonite, and cannot be removed by normal digestive processes.

A perfect accompaniment to No. 7 Detoxificant is our No. 9 Intestinal Cleanser. Mixed together in juice, this Cleansing Combo offers the scrubbing and roughage benefits from soluble and insoluble fiber from psyllium, and the detoxification properties of bentonite clay.

Recommended Dosage: For average adults, take 1 tablespoon. For others, take 1 teaspoon for every 50 lbs. body weight.

Directions: Take 2 doses per day. The first one in water upon rising in the morning; the other in the evening. It is important to drink plenty of water between meals to assist in elimination. It can also be taken in conjunction with No. 9 Intestinal Cleanser in juice or water. May be taken as long as desired. Please keep 30 minutes away from food and 1.5 hours away from medications and vitamin supplements.

Sonne's No. 9 Intestinal Cleanser

Sonne’s No. 9 Intestinal Cleanser is a finely ground powder of imported psyllium seed and its husk. As it contains primarily fiber and no laxative or herbal stimulants, it can be used on a daily basis to assist normal bowel peristalsis. (In contrast, laxatives and herbal preparations stimulate the peristaltic muscles of the bowel, and, if used regularly create a “dependency” and weaken normal colon function.) Psyllium seed has a hydrophilic (water-loving) action that softens hardened mucous lining the bowel wall, facilitating its elimination. Psyllium seed can help you achieve a high fiber diet.

Dietary fiber is a necessary component of the diet that is glaringly lacking in the typical western diet. Lack of dietary fiber can cause constipation. Psyllium is a rich source of soluble and insoluble dietary fiber. Taking psyllium on a daily basis can supplement the diet with high-quality fiber, and ensure at least one normal bowel movement every day.

The psyllium seed we use is derived from a small plant that is grown in Pakistan and India, Plantago ovato blond. In 1833, the French Dictionaire Universale de Materia Medica recorded the virtues of Plantago psyllium as a “home remedy” and referred to it as being “emollient, soothing, relaxing, etc.” In Pharacographia of Fluckiger and Hanbury (1874), there appeared a complete physical description of the seeds: “A decoction of the seeds (one part to 70 parts of water) is employed in India as a cooling demulcent drink. The seeds powdered and mixed with sugar, or made gelatinous with water, are sometimes given for chronic diarrhea.” This citation highlights the need to take plenty of water with any psyllium product. The volume of water needed is one reason why psyllium should not be taken in capsule or tablet form.

A British Pharmaceutical Codex for 1911 includes a statement about the psyllium plant and its useful properties: “The seed coat contains a large quantity of mucilage, and the seeds are taken dry or mixed with water in chronic diarrhea and in atony (weakness of a muscle or organ) of the intestine with constipation. They are much used in Continental practice.” This is why we use the whole seed and not just the husk, as many products on the market do. When psyllium is mixed with water, a mucilaginous mass is formed by virtue of the mucilage, which exudes from the cell walls. The outer covering of the seed possesses the bulk-forming properties. It contains no irritants to stimulate peristaltic action in the digestive tract. It possesses no laxative or cathartic ingredients. Any effect obtained is entirely due to whatever mechanical stimulus the added fecal bulk affords and to the lubrication provided by the mucilage from the seed.

We pay a premium for our psyllium to obtain a better than average product. Our experience of over 70 years has demonstrated that some psyllium seeds are faster jelling and more mucilaginous than others. We know this product will do a superior job on a larger number of people than any other bulk material generally available. Other products on the market contain herbs and other laxatives. These substances stimulate the muscles of the colon wall to contract in order to produce a bowel movement. When used on a continuous basis, laxatives can become habit-forming. This creates a situation where the colonic muscles will not contract by themselves, because they are dependent upon some external stimulus. Sonne´s No. 9 Intestinal Cleanser contains both the psyllium seed and husk, balanced as found in nature. NO fillers, NO binders, NO flavors, and NO laxatives are added to stimulate peristaltic action. Fiber alone provides the necessary impetus for bowel wall contractions. Because the Intestinal Cleanser is only fiber, it can be taken on a daily basis, or used as part of a more intensive 10-Day Colon Cleanse Program.

Recommended Dosage: One heaping teaspoon mixed with water or juice, 1-3 times daily. Follow with one or more glasses of water.

Directions: May be taken as described above, or put one or two tablespoons of Sonne’s No. 7 Detoxificant in jar or shaker with at least 8 oz. of juice or water. Add one heaping teaspoon of Sonne’s No. 9 Intestinal Cleanser. Shake vigorously or blend to make sure solution is properly mixed.
